How to Download Facebook Reels on iPhone (No App)

Facebook’s Save button keeps Reels in the app. How to get a real MP4 on your iPhone in Safari and move it into Photos.

By Downloaderize Published 3 min read

Facebook lets you save Reels inside the app, but those saves stay in Facebook: you can’t move them, edit them or watch them without the app. To get a real video file on your iPhone, you can use Safari and FB Reels Downloader, with no app to install. Here is the whole process.

What you need

  • An iPhone or iPad with a recent version of iOS.
  • Safari (Chrome for iOS works too).
  • A public Reel or video. Reels from private profiles, closed groups or friends-only posts can’t be downloaded; see why some Facebook videos can’t be downloaded.
  1. Open the Reel in the Facebook app.
  2. Tap the Share button (the arrow) on the right.
  3. Tap Copy link. If you don’t see it, scroll the row of options sideways.

Our guide on copying Facebook links covers every app and browser.

Step 2: paste it into FB Reels Downloader

  1. Open Safari and go to fbreels.downloaderize.com.
  2. Tap Paste, then Download.
  3. The Reel’s formats appear: HD and SD MP4 with sound, and the audio on its own as M4A.

Step 3: save the video

  1. Tap Download next to HD for the best quality (or SD for a smaller file).
  2. When Safari asks, tap Download again.
  3. A blue arrow in Safari’s address bar shows progress; tap it to open the file.

The Reel is saved in the Files app, under Downloads.

Step 4: move it to Photos

  1. Open Files → Downloads and tap the video.
  2. Tap Share and choose Save Video.

It now appears in Photos, ready to watch offline, trim or add to an album. You can delete the copy in Files afterwards.

Tips

  • Keep downloads on the phone, not in iCloud: Settings → Apps → Safari → Downloads → On My iPhone.
  • Add the site to your home screen for one-tap access: in Safari tap Share → Add to Home Screen.
  • Only want the sound? Choose the audio option to save an M4A file, which plays in the Files app and most music players. More in saving the audio from a Reel.

Troubleshooting

“Video not found” or no formats appear. The Reel is private, in a closed group, or deleted. Check whether it opens in a private browser tab without logging in.

Safari doesn’t show a download prompt. Make sure you tapped Download next to a format, and that Safari isn’t blocking pop-ups for downloads (Settings → Apps → Safari).

No “Save Video” option. The file may not have finished downloading; check its size in Files.

Please respect creators

Saved Reels are for your own viewing. Reposting someone else’s Reel without permission can break copyright rules and Facebook’s terms, so share the original link instead. Is it legal to download Facebook Reels? explains the rules in plain language.
